VIT was established at Dadar, Mumbai with three undergraduate Engineering Programs - Information Technology, Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
The operations were shifted to the present campus at Wadala, Mumbai, on a centrally located, sprawling 11 acres campus.
VIT was awarded “A” grade by the Government of Maharashtra
Two more undergraduate Engineering programs were added – Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. An architecturally acclaimed and international award-winning state of the art building was constructed on the campus.
The Institute initiated its first postgraduate program – Master of Management Studies on the campus. An additional division was added to Computer Engineering Program.
VIT initiated a postgraduate program in Computer Engineering. An additional division was added to Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Program.
VIT initiated postgraduate programs in Information Technology and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
An additional division was added to Electronics Engineering Program.
A swanky new seven-storied building (M block) was constructed. The Institute initiated Doctoral Program in Computer Engineering was initiated.
An international award-winning auditorium with an elegant ambience was constructed.
Three Programs of VIT (Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Biomedical Engineering) were accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.
Three of VIT’s undergraduate programs - Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Biomedical Engineering were granted Permanent Affiliation by the University of Mumbai.
VIT was awarded an A+ grade in accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Moreover, the three NBA accredited courses were re-accredited.
